For one thing, by encouraging more FT to come in and dismissing the negative feeling of the local, the gov is encouraging more ppl to leave. If you see other foreigner being able to get the citizenship so easily here, will you not question the value of your citizenship?

Has the gov really look into the pull or push factor forcing local to leave? Is the gov willing to make more changes to encourage ppl to stay?

So what if the MIW has done something if the result is they have all failed? Yet claiming they are the best and deserving the best salaries? It simply mean they have not try hard enough. Period.

The plan will backfired very soon. They import a lot of foreign to take away everything from you from jobs, money, house (very difficult to apply for house),
when you cry for help, no one will bother you. Let you rot in Singapore.

A lot of HDB has Indian and China Citizens staying. The bus, MRT, shopping centre and other public place are crowded with them and smelling odor.

I think all your posts are of the same veins and I would easily predict your response even to good suggestions and constructive posts with one simple sentence, "Please BEAR with problems and give your solutions if any"

Do you ever realize that problems were already bad caused by hypocrisy justifications sydrome and protectionism coined by some journalists at one time and many solutions have been proposed (read more at thread: "Stop Hypocrisy - Solve Problems e.g. rising costs)by the people but ministers paid millions are protecting their own career and not listening.

Like what Ms Bhutto who was surrounded by barb-wires in her home has said to the policemen" "I am fighting for you do you know?"

When you want to do something, do with all your heart with no intentions.

I don't see that heart anywhere, neither do I see no intentions anywhere.

PM Lee has already admitted part of the brain drain problem is caused by poly grads and understands what caused it.

And that improvement is barely an improvement.

And we ourselves... is that piece of paper with lots of As really an indication of how well someone could perform in reality?

Theory doesn't equate reality, it only works by right. By left, maybe.

Do we have to put a value in everything we do to show that they are "talented" ?

The folks in Gov already know that foreigner only come in and stay temporary and move on to other countries sg is just a stepping stone. So the foreign Talent is a temp solution.

Most of you guys need to "see" beyond the horizon. Look....there is really no stopping of people leaving the country. But Singaporean who left sg will return to visit.

What i do believe is that this open door policy is really not targeted at foreigners at all, but the actual target audience is local Singaporean who have move out to work for some years and had stay out and SG gov want these people back with global experience. "These are the real Talent"

So why not attract these folks to return to SG as foreign talent, after all the emotional attachment is here and loyalty.

Does these make sense to all you folks?

Not everyone who gave up his Singapore citizenship do so for economic reasons, or at least not his main reason.
There are quite a few forummers here who have either migrated or emigrated.
The likely reason is that they don't like the 'political climate' here. Tell me if I'm wrong.

surprisingly, political climate is not the reason but the effect of having 1 single party has its impact. CPF annuity, HOTA, forced army conscription, etc.. all these have their effects.

we are living in a global world now, and like the old chinese saying; "if the current place doesnt allow me to stay, then there will be some other place for me to stay". i cant speak for other singapore emigrants, but it is a damn good experience to live and work outside singapore.

looking back, my main regret is that i should have done this years ago instead of waiting till this day. for all of you fellas, consider this option too. let no one tell u how dumb/afraid/lousy u are (like Philip Yeo). Go forth and claim your rights to the lives that u want to live!

This is why I keep telling, its prudent and wise to start making backup plans.

The more global minded and mobile foreigners who came here for opportunities have planned for their migration. They know that the new membership can be benefitial to them either monetarily or otherwise.

Can sg people compete with this bunch of resourceful and mobile new immigrants?

As more leaves, more will come in.

PR plans to go back to their homeland (Malaysia, India, China) or fly to a better place (US, Canada, Australia) when they have a chance... sell their flats, get the cpf, squeeze whatever they can from the stupid government Laughing

Sure people move out of SG have all reasons. but once they settled down their kids and family and living oversea for more than 10 years, there are possibilities of returning. even individual who leave sg for political reason they would still return as there are family ties and memories. AS they are already detach from the local political emotion.

I have met SG who stay out for over 25 years and they still return to SG for the taste...... Mr. Green

Come back to visit is like, well I'm back for a tour, not to stay. You do enjoy your human rights outside of Singapore, don't you? Smile

I don't think those who have surrendered their pink IC will reverse their decision, no matter how much they miss home, unless the oppression and power monopoly is removed.

And those who try to come back when times are not good overseas, well, they are really the quitters. They won't be welcome anywhere.

That's waht I'm trying to say. Many people disagree with many of the policies but their voices are not heard. One more thing poor people are sad about is wage slavery.

If there is friction between one of the countries where many come here to roost, I wonder which country will they side given their sentimental feelings and relatives and all their childhood and adult memories is there?

In a even serious scenario,

if war breaks, which country would they side?

I know a 50 year old guy recently got citzengship.

his child and wive left in backhome as they doon like living here.

when talking to expats who came from his same mudderland,

when asked how is sg like, he said he also doon like it.

I thus wonder why he convert.

I got a feel, he will drop and return one day.
